Christmas Eve in Columbine Valley
A beautiful tradition takes place in Columbine Valley every Christmas Eve: homeowners lighting our streets with candle-lit luminaria. Luminaria are made from white paper bags weighted down with sand and illuminated from within by a lit candle. According to century-old Christian tradition, luminaria were put out on Christmas Eve to light the way for the Christ Child.
There is something special about a community that can act in concert with one another to present a display of such tranquil picturesque beauty. Those driving through our neighborhood on Christmas Eve are captivated not only by the peaceful appearance of our charming streets lined uniformly with candle-lit luminaria, but also by the community spirit that is evidenced by this communal effort.
